We hoped to grab an evening shot of Cathedral Rock silhouetted by the sunset (which had been magnificent the past two days) but failed to do our research and ended up on the west side of the park with the sun blocked by clouds and quickly retreating to the horizon. As we hiked in and set up for a couple uninspired shots, the rain came.
Dashing back toward the cars, I kept an eye out for rainbows, common occurrences in Sedona, especially during the monsoon season. As luck would have it, the sun broke through the overcast haze and projected a giant double rainbow right over Cathedral Rock. ~raiyneofgailin dashed back to our previous location for some shots while I decided to wade across a knee deep river and set up shop on some dry rocks in the middle of its waters.
After slipping several times (with all my gear), I set up the tripod and fired off a few frames just before the rainbow faded. Shortly afterward, the rain turned into a downpour, soaking my equipment and myself. I managed to lose my 24-70 lens hood in the disorganized retreat, but I feel it was worth this beautiful image.
Also I shuddered at the part where you slipped with your gear It definitely paid off though; I love the subtle reflection in the river and the the treeline, and the vibrant colors
The photo is great, it is a one-time chance to take this photo and you took it, good job

My heart definitely skipped a beat when I slipped. I am glad I got out with the shot and my gear intact!
